This project focused on creating mockups for a new product of indoor plant systems. My task was to take the client’s ideas and transform them into visually appealing prototypes. I work closely with the client to bring his vision to life and help create a stunning visual representation of the product. Overall, I came up with four different design prototypes where one design was continued further on to be improved and visualised in an interior setting.
These were the following criteria that had to be considered when designing the product:
- Must be able to support 10-15 seedlings in individual modularised capsules to support growth
- Must be able to remove the modular seedling capsules for replacement, cleaning, etc
- Strong preference for being vertical. Vertical systems are more water-efficient as they allow the water to move onto plants beneath them
- Must be able to support water intake into the system with a central tank. Most systems will require that the water is pumped upwards into the system from a central reservoir
- Must be able to support LED grow lights
- Incorporate sensors for temperature and humidity
- Incorporate a camera towards the plant
