Process
The following brief was defined to initiate the project:
Project Brief: Microscope Film
The film visualises a high-precision microscope targeted at scientists. Its purpose is to convey a clinical, serious, technical, and sharp impression, positioning the product as a tool of excellence for serious professionals.
Core message: High precision and advanced technology designed for serious scientists.
The overall style is light yet metallic with a slow pace. The environment is a clean, minimalist laboratory. The story consists of 3–5 scenes: a strong hero shot of the microscope, a powerful zoom into cells under the lens, a demonstration of the zoom capability, adjustment of controls, and a final hero shot with a slow zoom out.
Technical focus lies on lighting, dramatic mega zooms, After Effects enhancements, and realistic microscopic imagery.
Limitations: No characters, no exploded views, and no detailed internal technical visualisations.
Main risk: The film could become too boring, overly simple, or feel cheap if not executed with sufficient sophistication and visual polish.
I began by setting up a moving moodboard and storyboard according to the brief. See full process here.

Breakdown of the light setup with gradient bouncers to define a room. For the wireframe glow scene, I first retopologized parts of the model and then added a wireframe modifier. An emission material was then animated with an empty.
